Tidbits About Ylang Ylang
The tree grows in the tropical regions of Southeast Asia, primarily in Indonesia, Polynesia and the Philippines. The essential oil is derived from the delicate flower petals of the tree. Did you know Ylang Ylang was one of the key ingredients for the famous perfume Chanel No. 5? Surely we can all take advantage of this versatile oil of which hair thickening, skin healing, and mood-enhancing are just a few of its benefits.
Its essential oil is extracted from the flower petals through steam distillation. While there can be several extractions, the essential oil from the first extraction makes the sweetest smelling and most therapeutic oil. Therefore, the finished essential oil has an intensely sweet and flowery aroma.
